from the state of rest”

we assume that the road wheels are prevented from rotation while the propeller
shaft
rotating
• We
can visualise that the bevel pinion will tend to
roll round the crown wheel
• This
tendency is also present when the vehicle is running due to inertia force so
that the
bevel pinion always tends to climb round the crown wheel
