transmission, differential and associated components of the driven axle into the integrated
assembly
• Transaxles are near universal in
all automobile configurations nthat have the engine
placed at the same end of the car as the driven wheels
• Front wheel drive vehicles (almost
all cars) typically use a transaxle
• Transaxle is also defined as it is
a part in the drive train of a front wheel drive vehicle
combining in one housing the transmission and differential and usually connected directly
to the front axle
